Bathroom - End of week 2

I took these pics on Friday (2/17) after the contractor left for the day. We are now into Week 3 so there will be lots of changes happening this week!

The left side is the rough in for the shower. It's going to be gi-normous! You can see on the right that the tub is already installed underneath the cardboard and tools. We decided to put a bench seat in the shower since there is so much extra space. The seat will go on the far left which will be the back of the shower.

This is the wall where the vanity will be. The toilet is not going to be in that spot (see it peaking out from the bottom left corner?). It's all unhooked and sitting there temporarily.

The left side of this wall is where the toilet will go. On the right, there will be open storage with shelves for towels and baskets of "stuff." Hopefully, I won't regret having it be open..it's going to have to be kept neat!

This is just another look at the shower/tub wall..

Yesterday, they finished up the plumbing and moved around a few of the recessed lights. Today, they are working on the shower and pouring the concrete for the shower pan. I believe the next step is tiling the floor. I cannot wait for that..I think that should start tomorrow! It's actually starting to look like a bathroom up there :)

My Secret Weapon

A lot of my friends and family have asked why I rarely get sick. They all say it's because I run. I don't know if that's the reason or not..I doubt it. There are times that I feel like I'm starting to come down with a cold and I do have a secret weapon that I use to fight it. I am reluctant to say what it is because when I tell people they usually look at me like I'm crazy. I'm not a person who is into taking tons of vitamins or anything. I do periodically take Vitamin C and I have a bottle of a combo of Vitamin D, Calcium and Magnesium. You're supposed to take 3 a day and I don't always do it. I get a lot of headaches so the magnesium is supposed to help.

Anyway, my secret weapon for fighting colds and other sicknesses is bovine colostrum. Colostrum is a mother's "first milk" which is supposed to boost your immune system. Anyone who has had a baby will know what I'm talking about. It comes in pill form and when I am starting to feel a tickle in my throat I usually pop five pills twice a day for a few days and that normally does the trick. It sounds too good to be true, I know, but it really works. A friend turned me onto this years ago and my husband and I both now take it.

I have been talking about this a lot recently (reluctantly) because so many people around me are fighting colds right now. Everyone has been asking me for the link so I just thought it would be easier to post all the info on my blog.

I buy it from Vitacost. The current price is just under $32 which sounds kind of high, but you get 240 pills and that lasts a long time.

Below is a $10 refer a friend link. If you use it, you will receive $10 off your order:

Here is a link to the actual product in case you don't want to use the refer-a-friend thing:

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me..I'm not an authority on the subject, but I am happy to share my experience.

Stay healthy!

Friday

I have to admit that I have only gotten in one little old run this week (yesterday). We are in the process of having one of the bathrooms remodeled. I mean gutted down to nothing. There have been 8 workdays so far and it's starting to take shape. This is what it looked like before:

Some of our friends don't understand why we wanted to do this..on the surface it might not look that bad, but trust me it is! This is the upstairs bath that we all use the most. The tub was broken, the shower was small & a pedestal sink is not very practical for a family. Oh, and did I mention how much I despise the blue tile? We have lived in this house for about a year and a half and I haven't done one thing in there. I didn't paint, I didn't hang a picture or a curtain. The only thing I did was clean it. I just hated it.

Here is what it looked like after it was gutted:

Here is the general look we are going for:

We thought this shower/tub side-by-side would work well with the space. I wanted to make room for a bigger vanity, but it was kind of hard with the angled ceilings. We are moving the vanity to the wall where the tub used to be plus making space for some open shelving. I'm pretty excited because it is all my design. We did run into a slight issue with the lighting yesterday, but it's nothing that can't be changed. We have a great contractor and I'm more than pleased with his work as well as his work ethic. Great guy!

Anyway, I have been slightly obsessed with this project, but trying to not push my running aside too much. As I said, I did get out yesterday and I plan on going for a longer run tomorrow morning.

Remember the giveaways that I posted? I actually won the Progresso Soup package which included a Biggest Loser dvd..I can't wait to receive it. Thank you so much Happy Runner!

I think I'll take some more bathroom pics at the end of the day. I will try to post them tomorrow so you can see the progress..Happy running this weekend :)
