I think I'm finally recovered from my marathon..I took a week off after the race and then started back doing mostly 3-4 mile runs. I couldn't get past the 5 mile mark for a long time, but yesterday I did 6 and it felt really good!
I didn't do an official Turkey Trot this year. Larry & I went out for a run Thanksgiving morning from our house. Linda & her husband came with us..we talked about getting an even bigger group together for a post Christmas run. I think we're going to aim for New Year's Eve morning which will be on a Saturday. It should be fun.
So, what else have I been doing that I have neglected my blog so much? You might be wondering how an unemployed person could be that busy ;-) Well, some things I'll keep to myself, but one thing I have been busy doing is getting my house ready for Thanksgiving. A friend was getting rid of this hutch last year so I happily snagged it. I wanted to refinish it, but wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do. Well, I finally got around to it and it's finished. It came out so nice that I wanted to share it with you.
This is what I did for anyone that is interested:
First, I gave it a real quick sanding, taped the glass, removed the hardware and sprayed the whole thing with primer. (I used Krylon, but I have since switch to Kilz for my other projects). I then used Krylon spray paint for the green apple color (I don't remember the exact name). I used about 5 cans! Next I used a little bit of glaze (this was a first) to soften the green and to help the nooks and crannies stand out. I also sprayed the hardware and now they look brand new. I bought some funky fabric which I attached with spray adhesive. The whole thing was actually pretty simple..I am thrilled with the end result!

I recently bought a huge table (Craig's list) and needed some extra chairs..so I found some (also on Craig's list) and did this:

I just love the way everything came out. I still have one more piece to do in the dining room, but that may have to wait until spring because it's pretty big and it's getting cold here. Too cold for spray paint unfortunately. But, I did just finished another piece just yesterday..a small dresser. I'll post pics next time. I still have to put the drawer pulls back on. It came out great though.
I guess I have a new hobby :-)
Back to running..the weather has been absolutely gorgeous here the last few days. Perfect running weather. I hope it lasts for awhile. I don't look forward to those cold, wintery runs! It's time to start thinking about next year and what my (running)goals will be..what are yours?
