Marathon Training & Headaches

I'm already about halfway through marathon training..I can't believe that! I did a long run of 14 miles over the weekend. I felt really good other than the nagging headache afterward. This has been an ongoing problem for me over the last 4 years since I've gotten into distance running. It only happens when I do a longer run (more than maybe 10 miles). I've done some research, but I still haven't really figured out what causes these headaches. I'm fairly sure it's not hydration and it's not what I'm eating before or after the run. So now I'm looking into a lack of salt or sugar (?).

I've been listening to the Extra Mile Galloway Edition podcast (you should check it out if you haven't already) and I got the idea of asking the master/guru of running himself (Jeff Galloway). I emailed my question into the podcast and I got a reply that Jeff will be answering my question on the next podcast (yippee!). I can't wait to hear what he has to say! Hopefully, I'll find out before my next long run which will be 17 miles..yikes!

Other than my headache issue, my training is going really well. The weather hasn't been too warm so my long runs have all been done in fairly cool weather. I did have a slight pain in my right arch that I noticed on my run this morning, but I don't think it's anything major. It might have to do with my flip flops. I know they are so bad for your feet. Right now I'm wearing old Nike foam ones and they are completely shot. I want to look for a decent pair of flip flops (if there even is such a thing) with a little support. I wear the Adidias slides around my house and they feel great, but that's nothing I would wear outside of my house. If anyone knows of a decent flip flop with support, let me know.

I want to close with a few shots of some flowers from around our property..I've been taking a lot of pics of them lately..

I recently heard of another runner with headaches after the long run. Hope you can find the solution. Pretty flower photos!
