Happy New Year

I cannot believe that Christmas is over and we're well into January..time flies!

During the Christmas rush, I didn't do as much running as I would've liked although most weeks I managed to squeeze in at least a few short runs. Living in the northeast, we also have the winter weather to contend with. I have learned to deal with the cold..the biggest problem is when it snows and the roads aren't clear to run. But, even if we get hit with 6 or more inches, it normally only takes a few days before the roads are okay.

Now that we're in the winter running mode, I'm noticing how cold my butt gets! I wear Nike Dryfit pants and sometimes even fleece pants on top of those and my butt still freezes. I don't know if this is normal..I haven't heard anyone else complain about having a frozen butt when they run? If this is a "problem" there must be some kind of underwear or something that would keep my buns warm, don't you think? I'm gonna have to look into that!

I've been running more and more by myself lately..one of my running partners has been dealing with some knee problems so she has been awol. The other one is a substitute teacher so our schedules don't always coordinate. Sometimes I'm really having to force myself out the door..it's so much harder when you're running alone AND in the cold. But, still..I've been doing it. I did 4 on my own today. I procrastinated for so long before I actually made it out. I took forever to get dressed and then I kept finding stupid little things to do just so I wouldn't have to go out. I eventually did it though and as always I'm glad I did.

More snow is in the forecast for Tuesday night..the kids are already talking snow day for Wednesday ;-)

Here are some wintery scenes from around here:

Well I'm very VERY pleased to read that even a seasoned veteran runner like yourself has to force herself out the door! I have dragged my friend to Zumba and we are now both hooked. I just asked her if she wanted to run the Freihofer's with me. she was like how long is it? which i responded its only 3 miles. she then replied that could barely run 1 mile. I said, "you can run 1 mile? oh well then you could run 3! I'm going to start training her in April. Thank you for getting me started!!
