8 days to go

With just a little over a week to go, I have the first marathon jitters. I'm starting to doubt my training (I know I shouldn't), did I do enough, why do I want to do this, etc. I really need to relax about all this & remember that my only goal is run this marathon with my friend and to finish. That's it. We have no time goal..we're sticking to the Galloway "to finish" method. It is also her first marathon so I know she's got some jitters, too. I'm supposed to be the calm, cool, and collected one though so I have to put on my positive face for her..maybe if i do that, I'll convince myself at the same time!

Well, this fall has been filled with back to school stuff, sports, moving, painting, figuring out how to maintain a pool, cover the pool (you hire someone!), etc. Like most families, we've been very busy. We are really enjoying our new house though and finally getting more settled. I've painted 2 rooms (so far) with more to come!

There is a sauna in this house...one of the previous owners was from Sweden and I guess they installed it. The only problem is they plopped it right in the middle of a hallway upstairs and it takes up a LOT of space. So, we want to take it down..soon.

But, before that we need to install an "invisible" fence for the dog. Our poor dog (Alex) was used to having a big fenced in yard to run around in, but this house doesn't have a fence (only around the pool). We decided the invisible kind would work out the best for the property so we ordered it and we're going to install it ourselves. Hope it's not too difficult.

So, the countdown is on..I have a hair appointment today (can't have roots on my big day!). Saturday is my birthday & we have a wedding to go to..hoping to do a little birthday celebrating ;-) then, as Alyson says we'll head into marathon "monkdom". Not sure exactly what she means other than watching what we eat, drinking lots of water and don't do anything stupid and get hurt (which we did last weekend & I have cuts & bruises to prove it!)

Wish us luck as we head into pre-marathon week..
