Updates on stuff

Last week, I ran the Freihofer's Run for Women (5K) with my daughter. It's a really fun race because it's all women..I don't know if that's what makes it fun...nothing against races with guys, but this is just a really unique race that attracts world class runners. I don't know of any other race like it, do you?

Anyway, I have to admit that it was very refreshing to not be running a race for myself. I was only running to help my daughter finish and to have fun. It was actually nice to not worry about what my time was going to be. I'm not a big fan of 5k's anyway because I'm not as fast as I used to be. In the old days (pre-kids) I could run a 5K in 25 minutes. These days, I'm happy with 28-29 minutes. Let's just say I'm happy to be sub-30!

It was pretty hot last Saturday so I was a little worried that the heat was going to be a problem, but it turned out to be fine. We had the most fun & she ended up running almost the whole thing. She took a couple of walk breaks the second half of the race. I did get a little worried toward the end that she was not going to start running again and then the people around us starting telling her she could do it, etc and she finally started back up again. It's such a nice downhill finish. Our goal was to finish in less than 35 minutes and we did just over 34 minutes. She was so proud of herself & I was, too. Plus, I stopped to take a picture of the finishing clock so she is proudly telling everyone that she beat me by 2 seconds...she can have the 2 seconds..she loves going around saying that ;-)

We have 12 miles scheduled for Saturday according to the Galloway beginner plan. We're going to start a little earlier this time. I'm looking forward to it. Hoping my hip doesn't act up again.

We listed our house with a realtor and have had a few showings. Apparently the latest showing went very well and I'm hoping that this is it! This has gone on far too long.

Songs new to my playlist:
Rush - Caravan
Rush - Marathon (we're going to see Rush in concert next month so I'm on a roll listening to them).
Chritina Aguilera - Fighter
Superchick - Let It Roll
