Well, in just 10 short days I will be running my third half marathon. Although I've been doing some decent longer runs these past few weeks (8,9, & 10 miles) I don't know how prepared I actually am. I was SO prepared for my first half! I don't know that I'll EVER be as prepared as I was for that race. Anyway, the course is flat so that's a plus. It's a road trip down to Maryland with my brother and another friend. They're also doing the half. It should be a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to going to a place called Seacrets after the race and having a frozen drink called a "pain in the ass." Mmm!
For the next week, I'll be doing some shorter runs and maybe 5-6 miler this Saturday. The weather is getting nice here and that makes running extra nice!
I discovered Sharkies recently. Awesome. We had them on our 9 mile run a few weeks ago and they are delicious. Not as sweet as the sport beans, but they have that sugar coating on them like sour patch kids. Really good.
I'm listening to the Extra Mile Podcast Experiment http://theextramilepodcast.blogspot.com/. They're doing a whole thing on the Galloway method. Jeff Galloway has agreed to be part of the podcast and is going to answer questions, etc. I've already emailed a question in and they asked me to call their hotline and ask the question...not sure if I'm up to that...I like to stay inconspicuous ;-) I'm afraid I'd say something stupid and not be able to take it back. We'll see though.
Now that Alyson is back to running after her injury, she is toying with the idea of training for a marathon using the Galloway method. I'd like us to train together, but I don't know if I want to use Galloway. Part of me does because he has such a big success rate. I just can't wrap my brain around the walking though. It goes against everything in me to walk. I'm going to stay open to the idea. I'm glad the podcast is exploring the method prior to the actual training.
I'll keep you posted..
